Diane and I

Diane and I, originally uploaded by Heraldk.

This is on the same trip that this photo was taken. When we passed by this spot on the way up, I immediately flagged it as a spot to take a photo. On the way back down, I handed my camera to my very capable friend Kepi who got the amazing photo of Diane and I. To this day, it is one of my favourite photos in my collection.

I’m on the left, and yes, I had a ponytail at the time :)

Continuing with my adding of old photos, here’s a photo of my girlfriend, Diane, on her convocation day. Isn’t she pretty? :) This is probably the best of the photos I took that day, but there were several others that also turned out pretty well.

Upgrade

I ran through the upgrade process for wordpress version 2.2. It looks like everything works properly, but if something broke, please let me know!

Moo

A few years ago a group of us went to visit the farm that my friend grew up at. It was a really fun trip, involving some quad-ing around the countryside and saying hello to the livestock. The cows were quite curious about us and actually gathered in a big ring around us. It was mildly frightening … but the cows didn’t do much more than get close enough for some rather interesting photo opportunities. I rather like this particular shot.

I still have several old photos to upload… I think I’ll keep up with the one-a-day rate until I’ve caught up with a pretty spectacular sunset picture I took this past weekend!

This is a pretty old photo from several years ago. At the time I was a member of the 8th Edmonton Rover Crew, and we took a weekend getaway to bond as a crew. It was a pretty fun weekend, and as part of it I got this photo with most of the crew looking out on the lake. It is definitely one of my favourites!

Megan’s First Recital

My sister held her first paid ticket recital today in Rimbey, Alberta for mothers day this year. It was, I think, an unqualified success. Megan was in good form playing through a couple hour set of a variety of different styles of music. We sold 33 tickets at $12 a piece, plus a number of donations — all of which is money that will be helping finance her upcoming trip to Ireland later this summer.

Why was the recital in Rimbey you ask? Well my grandparents moved (back) there a month ago or so and they are really quite good about getting word out about Megan’s upcoming gigs. So they helped organize Megan’s first ticketed recital. I’m glad that it went well for her! So she was able to play through her pieces to a captive audience. Afterwards we went out to dinner as a family to celebrate mother’s day (and the successful recital).

If you’re interested in seeing Megan play, she has an upcoming recital in Edmonton sometime soon. I don’t have the date just yet, but if you want to know when it is leave me a comment or an email and I’ll make sure I get the chance to sell you a ticket!

Observation

Observation, originally uploaded by Heraldk.

I am continuing my look back on some old photos I’ve got in my collection.

On a hike some of my buddies and I went on a few years ago, we hiked up a ravine in Southern Alberta and found this cave in the middle of a large hill (or small mountain?). It was a little bit of a tiring climb so we stopped at the top to survey the scene. This photo was not posed for or anything. I just happened to be farther back in the cave than this couple and the shot was screaming to be taken. This is definitely one of my old favourites.

Linkety-Link-Link

Here’s a new idea. I’m gonna try and collect a list of neat stuff I find on the internet and post them in a spew of links on a semi-regular basis. There might be some brief discussion, but mostly it’ll just be a spew of links for you to check out if you’re bored. Lemme know if you like it or not.

Orange Sunset

Orange Sunset, originally uploaded by Heraldk.

A gorgeous sunset I witnessed a few years ago near my parents house (where I was living at the time). I remember being disappointed with the end result I got with my camera, so this must’ve been one hell of a scene in real life. I’m glad I took the photo though because now it is good to be able to see at least some of the glory of that sunset.

I’m going to be uploading some “old” photos that I’ve been holding in reserve for awhile. I have lots of these, so I’ll be working my way through these slowly. Some, like this one, will be ones from my old canon powershot A10. Some will be ones from my Rebel XT that I haven’t uploaded yet.

Enjoy!
